THERE BE LAWS ,
01. you need to know first off we’re big on one thing, which is respect. in becoming a member you not only agree to the proboards rules, you agree to ours. the three admins will not tolerate disrespect or bullying in any manner. if we ask you to do something, please do it as it’s for a good reason. if we’re asking you to fix up your application it’s not to be nasty, it’s to help expand on your character. show some respect to the other members, and you’ll get some back. it’s karma, remember? now, all members should be able to come to the three of us about anything. please please please don’t be afraid to pm us and fill us in! we’re going to listen and take it seriously, without being judgmental.
02. we have a few rules about registering that should likely be common sense if you’ve been browsing around the board enough. we do not accept screen names, your display name must be changed to your character's name before you post an application, or you will be placed into pending. if you need some help changing your display name, pm an admin account and we’ll give you some instructions. not only must it be a proper name, but it must fit the status of your character. eg: for a noble or knight: anastasia of conte,; for a commoner: artemis smyttheson. oh, and your name must be in lower case, it makes the site look just that little much better. the admin names are in all caps, for the convenience of you to find them quickly.
03. the next step after registering is creating your application. please post it in the correct sub-forum, whether that be incomplete or complete, and we’ll move it where it needs to be. we won’t deny you right away, you have a week to fix up the changed we’ve asked you to make. stealing is never and will not be tolerated! it's plagiarism, and where two of us live, it's the law for even something as simple as an rp! make it your own work, because then it's yours, you can be proud of it, and you know the character. mary-sues, gary-stus, and gothic-sues are boring, and we’ll tell you that straight away, and we'll also not accept you if you have one. flaws are a necessary part of a character, whether it be a secret they’ve been hiding for so long, a streak of maliciousness… give them some sort of weakness. no one can be perfect, just look at yourself. when filling out the application, fill out every question and try not to mess around with the template. we like pretty codes, and the admins are not fond of fixing things after creating them once for your convenience, so if you stuff it up you’ll be asked to fix it. simple stuff.
04. signatures and avatars are required. avatars can be 150x225 and smaller. while signatures can be no larger that 550x350. graphics are nicky's thing, and as you can see, they are beautiful. you can see how hard she’s had to work on this sidebar graphics and header. look at how pretty they are. she worked hard to make those images pretty, so if you come along with pixelated or stretched graphics, we’re going to tell you they’re ugly. it’s common sense. we know not everyone can make gorgeous graphics, so use the resource boards. or make a request, someone will take it up for sure. don’t stretch our board or we will personally remove them from our site, if they are not pretty or nice. the play by in your graphics must be the one you claimed, it doesn’t count as a claim but it does mean you’re using them. one last thing on this subject, please give credit where it needs to be. if you’re using graphics from a resource site, ebbs will know and hunt you down to make sure you credited. she’s a mod on most of those sites, so keep your eyes out. remember, prettiness is much appreciated.
05. plots are fun and we have forums just for it, so feel free to post up a shipping topic once you’ve been accepted. remember to post in the shipping pages of other members and not just expect them to post in yours, you won’t get any plots that way. oh, and don’t forget to inform the admins if you plan to do a pregnancy or death plot, just so we can be informed. you do need to ask our permission, and we have the right to decline. drop us a pm, and we’ll go over it as a team. be creative with your plots and try to stray away from the cliché, while still focusing around our main plot. if you need help with a plot, contact shinoa, and the admins will brainstorm and give you some ideas!
06. we don’t really have a set minimum for the word count, but no one liners… ever. try to do at least one paragraph, and that’s roughly seven – ten sentences. remember the five senses if you get stuck, or even thoughts. grammar should improve throughout your time on TD, we don’t expect all of you to be professionals because we all start from somewhere, but the admins will be keeping an eye out. don’t be worried if you get a pm from one of us telling you to just proof read your posts a little, it’s not meant to be offensive it’s supposed to help. try to have a topic going for each of your characters at one time, in case we ask for an active thread in our activity checks. no god-moding either, play your own character and not someone else’s. if you do need to do a little bit of it to start a thread, talk to the other player first, make sure it's ok. if it's a little thing, usually it'll be looked over. we need to keep it fair for everyone involved. number one tip: microsoft word is your best friend.
07. this would be the last one, i swear! and what’s this rule? have fun! this is supposed to be for fun, and for us to all improve as writers. try not to take too much to heart, and get involved. one last thing… on your application it asks for an answer to the secret question. the question you need to answer is ‘if you could be any character from tamora pierce’s books who would you be?’
